Classic Globes Collection by Zoffoli

The Classic Globes Collection by Zoffoli | Globe Furniture with 16th Century Replica Classic Globes

The bar globes and classic globes in this classic collection by Zoffoli feature replicas of vintage furniture pieces with museum-quality 16th-century map reproductions. The antique replica maps are printed onto traditional paper gores* and then applied in layers to the classic globe spheres by hand by Zoffoli’s master team of cartographers.

The faithful representations of ancient maps are still produced in Italy with the same passion today as the first reproductions by Zoffoli were and the globe collections named “Classic” are a testament to that.

The globe drinks cabinets from this collection include floor globe bars, specialty bar globes, globe bar carts & trolleys, as well as desk globes. All of the Italian manufacturer’s vintage globes and bar globes are true authentic reproductions of antique globe cartography. The superior workmanship is evident from the hand-finished screen printing and woodwork used for all Italian bar globes and world globes.

It is important to make sure that you get what you expect when you purchase a globe. Many retailers will write things like “Italian-style” or “antique-style” or “vintage-style” globe on the label, and it takes a bit of perception to know how to interpret these. For instance, “Italian-style” does not mean that it was made in Italy. It just means that the globe was made in the same style as Italian globes are made.

As a matter of fact, if you are purchasing a bar globe, a world globe with a drinks cabinet inside, the only true Italian-made globe bars are actually made by Zoffoli. This manufacturer is the only remaining producer of bar globes in all of Italy and the only company whose globe bars are 100% made in Italy.

The other difference to understand is that many retailers write “antique” or “vintage” or “old-world” to describe globes they are selling, whereas they are clearly antique replicas, not real antiques. But another thing is that the concept of an antique replica is also often abused.

A true replica, or antique reproduction, requires a faithful copy of an antique globe or map, like these 16th-century reproductions in the Classic Globes Collection by Zoffoli.

Zoffoli prides itself on being able to tastefully mix contemporary with vintage, old with new. Some of the world globes and bar globes that feature reproductions of sixteenth-century maps rest on floor stands that would fit right into any modern setting.

There are craftsmen who, time passing by, become themselves synonyms of what they produce. Skillful and patient men who acquire the experience from their fathers and in turn transmit their knowledge to their sons.

*A gore s a sector of a curved surface or the curved surface that lies between two close lines of longitude on a globe and may be flattened to a plane surface with little distortion. The term has been extended to include similarly shaped pieces such as the panels of a hot-air balloon or parachute, or the triangular insert that allows extra movement in a garment.
