Brimming with Old World elegance, this 16th century globe bar exhibits sixteenth-century nautical map replicas from the National Museum of Science in Florence. Every time the hinged sphere is opened at its meridian to access the stemware storage space, guests will be drawn in by the domed ceiling of hand-painted frescoes inside the 16th century globe bar.
The legs of turned hardwood house a beautifully-painted lower shelf and sit atop rolling casters for additional convenience.
Although it is not made in Italy, it is manufactured in the Italian style. First the globe is made, consisting of a cast palmer material similar to resin that allows it to keep its shape. Then for the map, a lithograph printing process is done using acid-free paper. Just as for all globes, the paper is hand cut into what is called gores and hand applied to match the spherical shape of the globe. This is identical to the process that is used in Italian globe making and is quite difficult since a map that is a two-dimensional sheet of paper must be attached to a three-dimensional, round object.
Stemware storage capacity of the bar globe cabinet
– Inside the globe itself, each of the two stemware slots is 3 inches wide and 19 inches long along the curve. The center opening for bottle(s) is 8 inches in diameter.
– The oval-shaped openings for bottles on the bottom shelf are 9.5″ – 10″ wide and 6″ – 6.5″ deep.

t looks great until you get close..
Erica Schwarzen –
This globe looks nice from far away, but when you get close the Made in China evidence becomes apparent. It’s cheaply made.
Charlie –
The finish work on the map was really sloppy and only a few of the seams met up. Not quality work.
Sally Montenegro –
I’ve read lots of reviews about globes from China not being great quality, so I knew what i was signing up for when I bought it. And it’s true, the workmanship isn’t great. But it does the job for a cheaper price than the Italian globe bars.
Macy Mae –
This is wobbly and poorly made. The map stickers don’t line up. I put it in the corner and it’s okay if you don’t come too close, but in general, I am disappointed.
