The stunning Queen Anne Illuminated Globe features a political/topographical world globe with a raised relief map delineating 4,100 name places in a charming pale peach color that the manufacturer Replogle calls “antique.” We think the Queen Anne Illuminated Globe is even reminiscent of the pallor of Queen Anne’s face as presented in most of her portraits.

The globe sphere is not only beautiful because it is encompassed by a full die-cast meridian, but its colorful land masses and cream-colored oceans are accentuated by the light coming from inside the globe ball, a long-lasting LED light that is included with your purchase.

The meridian is die-cast, which means it has been made by forcing molten metal under high pressure into reusable metal dies. The die-casting process is often called the shortest distance between raw material and finished product.

The superb hardwood legs of the stand of The Queen Anne Illuminated Globe have a beautiful solid cherry finish and pay homage to the curved legs of 18th-century European furniture.

According to Lonnie Bird, recognized expert on period furniture, “nothing symbolizes 18th-century furniture more than the cabriole leg.”

Modeled after certain four-footed animal’s legs, the classic cabriole is shaped in two curves, the upper curve being convex and bowing outward, while the lower curve is concave and bows inward. This design is also often associated with the bun or the ball-and-claw foot style. It is no surprise that this style was typical of Queen Anne and Chippendale furniture.

Painting of Queen Anne for The Queen Anne Globe

The Queen Anne Illuminated Globe is influenced by Queen Anne

Not only does The Queen Anne Illuminated Globe draw the eye to wherever it is placed in a room, but it also makes a superb subject for discussion. We wanted to shorten this reference to the Queen in an article from Vanity Fair, but we left it all because it was simply too good to cut:

Queen Anne failed to leave a single heir; her pregnancies mostly ended in stillbirth or miscarriage.

According to one biographer, Anne’s education was “astonishingly inadequate”—given that “learned women,” at the time, were not in vogue. Given this significant obstacle, Queen Anne had her advisers script speeches and remarks she could present to foreign ambassadors—but impromptu conversation was a devastating challenge.

And when Queen Anne found herself out of her depth, she would reportedly ‘move only her lips and make as if she said something when in truth no words were uttered.’”

One thing is for sure. The Queen Anne Illuminated Globe is definitely not shy. It is bold, beautiful, and stunning.

The Queen Anne Globe also comes in a non-illuminated version. Make sure to have a look. You can also find it in the Related Products section at the bottom of this page.

Replogle Globes takes pride and goes to great lengths to assure we provide you with the most accurate globes possible. The maps on all Replogle Globes show nations, colonies, possessions, boundary lines and place names as approved by the United States Government. Maintenance of the content of these maps requires frequent communication with the U.S. Department of State, The U.S. Board of Geographic Names, and the National Imagery and Mapping Agency.

In addition to the sources mentioned, we communicate with embassies of other nations in Washington D.C. and foreign consulate offices in Chicago, our home base, for help with new changes in boundaries and names. We also use material from official foreign place-name agencies equivalent to our U.S. sources. In some regions, we note political claims by neighboring nations, but the color (and border) is shown in accordance with the region’s actual political affiliations or status.

Similarly, we also show alternative or former place names in parentheses. This is one way our globes serve the needs of both the serious student and the casual user.
