The Cassini Italian Tabletop World Globe is a perfect example of how the manufacturer Zoffoli is able to meld old with new seamlessly into a beautiful style that feels at home among classic and more contemporary settings.
The eight-inch diameter globe sphere rests on four hand-turned legs of solid beech wood and a center column that adds stability. This table mount, featuring a walnut base shelf, is more reminiscent of a miniature version of a floor stand than a desk top stand because the structure emanates solidity and substance of classic baroque furniture.

Cassini’s sky blue globe ball, “azzure” in Italian, rotates and is encompassed by a beautiful calibrated wooden meridian..
Although the Cassini Italian Tabletop World Globe may look like an antique replica or vintage style reproduction with its deep, rich color and sturdiness, the structure actually supports a political world globe that has been updated by Zoffoli’s master cartographers, featuring the names of countries, capitals, cities, oceans, and rivers. Zoffoli claims that each Cassini that is made is unique because of the great number of manual processes involved.
We actually think that Zoffoli put it best when they said that in the Cassini, a contemporary map and classic structure = classy furniture.
Both the Cassini Italian Tabletop World Globe and the Cassini space probe are named after Giovanni Domenico Cassini, also known as Jean-Dominique Cassini (8 June 1625 – 14 September 1712), an Italian (naturalized French) mathematician, astronomer and engineer. Cassini is known for his work in the fields of astronomy and engineering. Cassini discovered four satellites of the planet Saturn and noted the division of the rings of Saturn; the Cassini Division was named after him. Giovanni Domenico Cassini was also the first of his family to begin work on the project of creating a topographic map of France.

When I ordered this, I thought it was a floorstanding globe. I was really mad when I got it and thought I was misled. But I went back and read the description and the category and realized that I was the one who made a mistake. But I’ve grown used to it and now I think it’s quite unique and I’m glad it’s a desk globe…
